6 April 2004, Ralph Kyte-Powell, The Age
Named after Henry Evans, who in 1853 planted the first Eden Valley vineyard, this unconventional three-way blend is a complex wine with a nose of red berries, stone fruits, earth and flowers. The medium-bodied palate is satiny and long flavoured, with ripe firm tannins. A delightful new direction for Henschke. Ageing? Drink over 5 years. Food Ideas: Pink lamb cutlets; rabbit and mushroom pie. Value Rating: $$$ (A wine with a price tag that makes it a steal.) 4 1/2 stars
