Pale straw in colour with green-gold hues. An evocative bouquet of lifted rose petal florals, exotic spices and musk is enveloped with Turkish delight and lychee. The generous palate is layered with flavours of fleshy white peach, tropical fruits and ginger root spice, which are complemented by pure red apple acidity, savoury minerality and fine texture, giving way to an exceptionally long, clean finish.
Extremely heavy winter rainfall and ferocious spring winds and hail shaped one of the most challenging vintages we have ever experienced at Lenswood. Flowering was late, occurring in December in rare calm and sunny weather, which generated good yields. The Eden Valley region also experienced the winds and slightly higher rainfall than the Barossa Valley; these conditions also delayed flowering, however the mild summer and regular rainfall events that followed allowed the grapes to reach full physiological maturity. By Easter, all Adelaide Hills and Eden Valley whites were safely in the winery and in excellent condition after careful handpicking and sorting. The 2017 vintage will be characterised by impeccably floral and vibrant white wines, an indicator of slightly cooler conditions in the Adelaide Hills and Eden Valley regions.
