It is with great sadness that we farewell our Senior Winemaker, Paul Hampton.
Paul is stepping away to invest more time into his farm and his family. Words simply cannot describe Paul’s unconditional commitment and dedication to Henschke over the past 17 vintages. Paul’s creativity, attention to detail and ability to refine has been instrumental to the success of Henschke, sharing some incredible achievements and accolades over the years, including the Halliday Wine Companion Wine of the Year for our 2012 Hill of Grace, 2021 Halliday Wine Companion Winery of the Year, the 2017 National Wine Show Riesling Trophy for our 2017 Peggy’s Hill, the 2020 Royal Adelaide Wine Show Riesling Trophy for our 2017 Julius, 2021 Royal Melbourne Wine Awards Riesling Trophy and 2023 Halliday Wine Companion Riesling of the Year for our 2021 Julius, 2021 Wine Enthusiast New World Winery of the Year, and 2021 Decanter Australian Red Wine of the Year for 2016 Hill of Grace, just to name a few.
Our family deeply appreciates everything Paul has given to the business, including his passion for our vineyards, wines, people and brand. He is also a great friend to many of us.
