Merry Christmas from Henschke!
With the festive season upon us, we would like to thank you for your support in 2025 and wish you a safe and happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
As we look back on the year, we’re proud to have been recognised with several accolades, including:
- Stephen Henschke presented with the 2025 Institute of Masters of Wine Winemakers’ Winemaker Award
- Henschke ranked no. 21 in The World’s Most Admired Wine Brands 2025
- 2021 Hill of Grace awarded Best Australian Wine by the Robb Report
- Two trophies at the Barossa Wine Show for 2023 Tappa Pass Shiraz and 2024 The Bootmaker Mataro (both due for release in 2026)
- Henschke ranked no. 13 in the Halliday Wine Companion Top 100 Wineries 2025
- Awarded the 2025 Golden Vines ‘Best Wine Producer in the Rest of the World’ (Australasia, Africa, Asia & Middle East) for the second consecutive year
- The only Australian winery included in The World’s 50 Best Vineyards, ranked no. 47
This year, Henschke also achieved Gold Member status with International Wineries for Climate Action (IWCA), placing us among Australia’s leading wineries committed to science-based emissions reduction at the highest global standard.
We were delighted by the response to the inaugural release of 2024 The Nurturer, our sequential fermentation of carignan, counoise, grenache gris, grenache noir, clairette, cinsault and shiraz which was featured in Nick Ryan’s Top 100 Wines in The Weekend Australian and in Max Allen’s Top 20 Drinks of the Year in the Australian Financial Review.
We are pleased to share that our 2022 Single Vineyard Collection will be released globally on Wednesday, 6 May, including Hill of Grace Shiraz, Hill of Roses Shiraz, Mount Edelstone Shiraz, The Wheelwright Shiraz, Cyril Henschke Cabernet Sauvignon and Hill of Peace Semillon. This release marks 70 vintages of Mount Edelstone, one of Australia’s longest consecutively produced single-vineyard wines, with celebrations including Henschke Cellar Member dinners in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, along with a lunch at the winery in May. We look forward to sharing further details in the new year.
Vintage 2026 is fast approaching! Spring brought cool temperatures and above-average rainfall, along with several challenging frost events in November. Recent warm weather is providing favourable conditions for our later-ripening varieties, and we expect harvest to begin in mid-February with riesling and pinot gris.
If you are planning to open any special Henschke bottles over the festive season, please visit our Vintage Charts for guidance on optimal drinking windows.
Best wishes from the Henschke family and our wonderful staff
